The Constitutional Court, in cooperation with the German Foundation for International Cooperation (GIZ), organized a conference on the exchange of experiences that included a number of topics, most notably the role of the Court in supporting constitutional principles and the separation of powers. A statement issued by the court on 6/7/2022, said that the court's member, Judge Fayez Al-Hamarneh, stressed the depth of the distinguished relations between the Jordanian court and the German Federal Constitutional Court and its continuous development as a result of communication and consultation to see the developments of the constitutional judiciary in the two countries.
He added that the member of the court, Dr. Akram Massadeh, presented a paper on the history of constitutional life in Jordan, starting from the 1952 constitution and ending with the constitutional amendments that were approved by the establishment of the Constitutional Court. He added that that these amendments were made with the political will of His Majesty King Abdullah II and in accordance with an early foresight of the importance of the court's role in supporting the reform process in the state.
The assistant pointed out that the decisions of the High Council for the Interpretation of the Constitution, which was established in accordance with Article 122 of the Constitution, were respected by the Jordanian state, leading to the establishment of the Constitutional Court, which is born in the Constitution, which monitors the regions and limits the encroachment of any constitutional authority over the other.
Retired Federal Court Judge Michael Eichmerger explained that each state has its own constitutional body and has powers based on the law, noting that the President of the German Federation holds a prominent position in the republic, as the supreme representative of the people and has the powers to edit and sign laws and refer laws that violate the Constitution to the Federal Constitutional Court from the standpoint of constitutional control.
An extensive discussion took place between the Jordanian and German sides. It shed a light on the possible solutions for settling the disputes between constitutional bodies and the methods of settlement applied in the Federal Constitutional Court.
